The story of Tom Bunt, Supply Chain Coordinator

A career in motion

His career started in 2011 in the warehouse at PON Logistics. In 2016, he became the point of contact between PON and SAF. ‘I already knew a lot of people and had a lot of customer contact. When they were looking for someone at SAF for the aftermarket sales department, they came to me. Breaking in was hardly necessary.’

Since 2022, Tom has been responsible for the entire logistics chain - from procurement to delivery to the customer. ‘We operate in a specific market with heavy equipment. Everything has to fit together and be well organised, because customers count on timely and reliable delivery.’ In addition to his work as Supply Chain Coordinator, Tom also fulfils the role of Inside Sales Aftermarket Coordinator. ‘Colleagues can come to me with personal issues or practical matters such as leave. I am happy to do that.’

No two days are the same

A typical working day does not exist. ‘I have daily contact with suppliers such as HALDEX, ASSALI STEFEN and TECMA, and work closely with different departments such as axes and steering.’

New structure, better service

The transition on 1 January 2024 from PON to an independent SAF-HOLLAND subsidiary brought changes. ‘We now supply customers more directly. That increases our service and speed. The implementation of new product lines such as HALDEX and ASSALI STEFEN also went smoothly thanks to the team.’

Short lines, great respect and fun on the shop floor

What appeals most to him about the work culture? ‘Short lines, a lot of mutual respect and a no-nonsense approach. We laugh a lot, but also work really hard. And hard work is really rewarded here. We don't need many words to understand each other.’

The atmosphere among colleagues also makes working at SAF-HOLLAND special. ‘Fun activities are organised regularly, such as teambuilding, trips and, of course, the pre-summer barbecue. At Christmas, there was even a laser game event in our own premises - how nice is that? It's those extras that make the work even more fun.’

Customer satisfaction is key

For Tom, it's all about satisfied customers. ‘If they come back because we deliver quickly and well, then I have done my job well,’ he says. An experience to remember

A moment that will always stay with him? ‘Last year I got to go to Formula 1 at Zandvoort with two customers - an amazing experience! Especially as an F1 enthusiast, that was really enjoyable.’ That he also happened to have 12.5 years of service made it extra special, but was separate from that.
